Management Packs That Require Agent Proxy Enabled

The following Management packs require the Agent Proxy setting to be enabled. When the Agent Proxy security setting is enabled it allows an agent to submit data on behalf of another source.

If you were import a management pack that expects an agent to submit data not originating from that agent/source workflows will fail to function because by default this setting is not enabled for any agents. Given the large quantity of MP’s that now require proxy settings enabled it does beg the question why even have it disabled but of course not every deployment has all packs installed and putting the security head on it does reduce the ‘man-in-the-middle attack’. It is also a mechanism to mitigate the risk of installing an un-trusted management pack given the type of attack woould occur from within the company.

  • DNS
  • Load Balancing

In large networks it is a time consuming task to enable so use one one of the many scripts available in the community.
